I am a sociologist, researching and teaching at the University of Cologne.
I completed my PhD at the University of Bamberg in 2019. After a post-doc at the University of Munich, I gained experience as policy advisor at the Bavarian Transport Ministry, only to return to academia a year later. Since then, I have been working at the Institute of Sociology and Social Psychology at the University of Cologne, served as interim professor at Goethe-University Frankfurt and was a visiting scholar at Sciences Po Paris and at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. You can find out more in CV.
In my research, I apply and advance quantitative research methods to study: (1) political attitudes and how they matter for people’s private lives and for social cohesion; (2) family demography, gender, and the life course; and (3) behaviour and attitudes concerning mobility and sustainability. For more information, see my publications, where you can also access PDFs and replication files.
I have received several awards for my research, including by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, German Demographic Society (DGD), and Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sozialwissenschaftlicher Institute (ASI).
My research is regularly covered in the media. Here, you find a selection of guest editorials, interviews, and other report.
